Jose has decided he wants to start selling photo guides on how Porties should act. The first series is entitled "How to Properly Attack a Ball". He wanted to make sure I told you that style points are critical and the proper technique is crucial. Any questions - just look at the photos ;-)

Lesson 1: The proper method of approaching your prey...

Lesson 2: The proper method of initiating the final pounce...

Lesson 3: The proper method of flying through the air. Extra points are awarded for stretching your front paws out horizontally and tucking the rear legs in. There must be no dangling body parts...

Lesson 4: The proper method of making contact with the ball. The right paw should make light contact with the ground while the left paw is stretched slightly further out and strikes the ball BEFORE touching the ground...

Lesson 5: The proper follow-through can often seal the victory. The paws should go deep into the sand under the ball and make the ball jump up into the Portie's mouth. Like in competitive diving, the sand "splash" should me minimal and well-controlled (just as I'm doing it in this photo).

Cheers,

Jose (and Brad, for taking the photos)
